I took a couple of weeks off from this, in order to gather my own life back after a month or so of campaigning for Mayor of my home town.
It is never easy to pour your life into an effort like that, and end up on the losing end. It would be a denial of humanity to say otherwise.
That was momentary, though, for one big reason: this was not about me, it was for the reasons that I ran. One should never enter political candidacy because you are looking for a job.
I did well enough where many people have asked me to run again in two years. I will likely do so, because I don't see the issues I ran for changing markedly during that time.
I've been in this game long enough to know that one of the biggest hallmarks of a losing campaign is not adapting and spending too much time fighting the last war.
In the meantime, I will be a lot more active locally, and try my best to be some sort of watchdog on the prediliction of some politicos here to be some sort of progressive, regional focus instead of overseers of a small town that, in some ways, wants to stay a small town.
